Farmwave Appoints AgTech Visionary Michael Stern as Advisor and Board Member
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DAWSONVILLE, GA – June 12, 2026 – Farmwave, a pioneer in artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for agriculture, today announced the appointment of Michael K. Stern as an Advisor and Member of the Board of Directors. Stern, a globally recognized leader in digital agriculture, brings decades of executive experience and a proven track record of scaling agricultural technology to the Farmwave team.
Stern is the former Chief Executive Officer of The Climate Corporation and the Head of Digital Farming at Bayer Crop Science. Prior to his leadership at Bayer, Stern had a distinguished 30-year career at Monsanto Company, where he served in numerous executive roles including Vice President Row Crops Americas, President of American Seeds, and Director of Technology for Agriculture Productivity. Under his guidance, digital farming tools were brought to millions of acres globally, fundamentally shifting how data is used to drive yield, sustainability, and efficiency in modern agriculture.
"We are incredibly honored to welcome Mike to the Farmwave team," said Craig Ganssle, Founder and CEO of Farmwave. "Our mission has always been to build technology that actually works for the farmer—solving real problems like harvest loss directly at the edge, without requiring a constant internet connection. Mike’s unparalleled expertise in commercializing digital agriculture, combined with his deep understanding of agronomy and farm management, will be invaluable as we scale our operations globally and roll out our next-generation Precision Harvest System."
Farmwave is transforming how farmers manage crop waste with its proprietary precision harvest system. Using edge-computing artificial intelligence and cameras mounted at pivotal points on a combine, the system analyzes photos every 3 to 5 seconds to count kernel loss in real-time. This provides operators with instant, in-cab data to make immediate machinery adjustments, mitigating harvest loss for crops like corn, soybeans, wheat, and cotton, and saving growers thousands of dollars per field.
"The next leap in agricultural productivity is not just about gathering data, but providing farmers with actionable, real-time intelligence precisely when they need it most," said Michael Stern. "Farmwave’s edge-AI technology directly addresses a critical and costly pain point in the harvest process. I have been deeply impressed by Craig's vision and the technology the Farmwave team has built. I look forward to working with the board and leadership team to accelerate the company’s growth and bring this game-changing technology to more farmers around the world."
In addition to his new role at Farmwave, Stern currently serves on the Board of Directors of Ohalo Genetics, and the Board of Trustees for the Missouri Botanical Garden. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton University, and is the author of 25 scientific publications, and the inventor on 24 U.S. patents.
